JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Summary
The Director of Production is accountable for ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget, and at McLennan’s standard of excellence. This role leads construction execution across both Design-Build and Home Services, ensuring work is efficient, profitable, and aligned with company standards for quality, client experience, and conduct. It spans both Project Development and Production, playing a key role from planning through completion.
The ideal candidate for this role is a results-oriented leader who takes full ownership of outcomes and knows how to drive a project forward from start to finish.

Work Hours & Location
This is a results-driven role. While the expected commitment is around 40 hours per week, meeting deadlines and goals may occasionally require more. Strong performance and efficiency may allow goals to be met in less time.
Availability by phone is expected between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday. Work is based at our office (780 Eden Rd., Lancaster) and client jobsites, with some remote flexibility once fully onboarded.

Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead projects from contract to completion, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery at McLennan’s quality standard.
- Coordinate internal team and trade partners to meet deadlines and keep clients informed.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, enforce standards, and maintain homeowner trust.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation: schedules, scopes, budgets, and change orders.
- Manage project close-out, including punch lists and warranty handoff.
- Obtain and document approvals for all change orders.
- Review and approve vendor and trade partner invoices in alignment with budgets.
Production Oversight & Team Leadership
- Manage the master production schedule to hit monthly revenue goals while balancing team and trade capacity.
- Refine and enforce systems for pre-production, project management, and warranty.
- Track production volume and forecast future workload.
- Build and lead a strong field team by developing internal talent and aligning with top-performing trade partners.
- Hold team members and trade partners accountable to standards, systems, and timelines.
- Run weekly production meetings to align on progress, resolve issues, and drive momentum.
- Protect margins through proactive scheduling, early risk detection, and clear communication.
Home Services Management
- Lead and grow the Home Services Division, managing small, high-efficiency Fixed-Price and T&M projects.
- Conduct site visits, develop scopes and budgets, and close contracts with clients.
- Oversee scheduling and execution to ensure timely, quality delivery and strong client communication.
- Drive profitability on each job while maintaining McLennan’s standards of craftsmanship, conduct, and care.
- Identify ways to streamline operations and scale the division without sacrificing margin or quality.
Estimating Consultation
- Act as an internal estimating consultant, ensuring scopes and budgets are complete, accurate, and field-aligned.
- Collaborate with designers and the estimator to bridge design intent with construction realities.
- Join job debriefs to assess estimated vs. actual costs and drive continuous improvement.
- Contribute to maintaining an up-to-date estimating database with current pricing.
- Recommend process and workflow refinements to improve accuracy and efficiency in project development.
Requirements
Education & Experience
- High school diploma required; college degree in construction-related field preferred
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in construction
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods, building codes, and best practices.
- Experience working with trade partners, carpenters, and vendors to execute projects efficiently.
Technology & Software
- Proficient in smartphone navigation
- Skilled in Google Apps and MS Office Suite
- Competent with typing, file navigation, and general computer skills
- Basic understanding of spreadsheets, working with PDFs, downloading and saving files.
- Computer savvy and comfortable learning new software.
- Excellent typing skills
Not Required (But Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with Apple iPhone, iPad, and Macbook
- Experience with project management software (Monday.com, Jobtread, CoConstruct, Buildertrend, or similar)
- Experience with job costing and estimating tools
General
- Of working age for tasks required and have proper working paperwork.
- Active driver's license, safe driving record, and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Able to maneuver safely around active construction sites at any stage of work (i.e., foundation, framing, finishing).
- Available for communication between 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.
- Available for occasional after-hours meetings as needed for project scheduling or client communication.
