My husband and I had wanted an additional bathroom to our 100+-year-old home for quite some time. A prior experience with remodeling was disappointing – there was a lack of a true financial estimate and a true timeline to complete the project, and getting them back to do the “punch list” became a joke. We were hesitant to start another big project on our old house.
Then, a friend (who only works on new construction) and master-carpenter recommended Tim McLennan. Time went above and beyond in providing an exact timeline of what and when would be accomplished, what can be expected on his part as far as cleanup, disposal of waste, and more. And he was always conscientious that he was working in our home, not just someone’s house.
Included with his estimate was information that told us exactly how much and when payments were due do we have no surprises. I know with an old house there is more than the average likelihood of surprises, but his experience and knowledge of both new and old house remodels and additions allowed him to be accurate and realistic.
Today, our newly added bathroom is the best room in the house. Thanks to Tim, we finally have the bathroom we always wanted, on time and on budget. To top things off, his workmanship is outstanding. Our family feels like we’ve added more than a contractor, we’ve added a friend who really cares for us and the livability of our home.

We highly recommend Tim McLennan for any repairs or remodeling needs. My husband and I met Tim in 2011 after we bought our first home. We needed to replace a huge three panel sliding glass door because the frame was rotten. Tim was on-time, friendly, meticulous, extremely detail oriented (hard to find these days – in my opinion), and kept the work space clean and tidy.
Tim has done several jobs for us since then including: new door and window installation, converted our dining room space into an office, made a second pantry space in our kitchen, raised our cabinets in the kitchen, and several other small jobs. His attention to detail and the quality of his work speaks for itself.
Every time he’s at the house, we’re asking him to give us an estimate on the next job. His estimates are very close to actual cost, and he always lists options (love that!).
The house we bought is still under constant remodeling and Tim is still the guy we call! We did stray once from using a private contractor thinking we could get a better deal with a big company name. But we found out the hard way that the guys they sent to our home did not have any accountability for their work or workmanship in general. Tim was the guy that we ended up calling to complete the rest of the job.
Whenever there is work that we need completed that is out of his scope, he is happy to give out referrals. We recently installed a new roof and had a minor issue that kept getting swept under the rug. Tim was at the house and said he’d call and write them a letter for us. Within a couple days the roofing company came out and fixed the issue. He’s a busy contractor, however, he takes the time to make things right, even if it’s not his work.
We refer Tim and his company to all our friends. We look forward to working with McLennan Contracting for years to come. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication!

Tim has become our go-to guy for all our construction and renovation needs. He was recommended by a friend from church to help us update our kitchen/living room space. We enjoy hands-on projects but knew that some of the work was beyond our abilities to complete ourselves so we asked Tim for help. It was by far our best decision! Tim and his crew removed a wall (load-bearing so it needed to be structurally reinforced), designed a kitchen island with a butcher block top, upgraded all the lighting, and designed a glass wall and railing system for the staircase. Our kitchen is now what we dreamed and we are thoroughly enjoying the improvements.
Very recently, Tim helped us with an apartment remodel which included moving a doorway, updating lighting, and the installation of an electric fireplace and ceiling fans, and installing deadbolts. Again, his work was meticulous.
Tim does high quality work and keeps a very clean worksite. He can be counted on to do what he says when he says he will do it. His prices are fair and as others have said, he is unusual because he is quick to suggest cost savings when they won’t compromise quality. We feel we get the most of our renovation budget with Tim. In addition, he is friendly, listens carefully and patiently, and is very detail-oriented.
We have a third project in the planning stages for the first of the year and look forward to working again with Tim. He has already made some great suggestions to consider. We are pleased to recommend him highly!

Tim was recommended to us by our Real Estate agent. We recently bought a 92 year old Craftsman home that needed some plaster, drywall, & electrical repairs along with painting several rooms. We had an acoustic tile ceiling in our livingroom & going up our main staircase to the upstairs level. The drywall & crown moulding that replaced the acoustic tiles is seamless followed by a perfect paint job! It’s so nice to sit in our livingroom & look up at that ceiling! Tim & his crew are very professional & topnotch! Every single guy that came into our home, whether it was Tim, the painter, the drywall guys, the crown moulding guy, the electrician, was friendly, careful, and respectful. They did their individual jobs to the very best of their ability. We could tell immediately that we were in good hands. We didn’t have to watch over them to make sure the work was being done correctly. These days, it’s very difficult to find hardworking, honest people that actually take pride in what they do. They really do & we found this entire situation to be refreshing!! They did a beautiful job & we can’t thank them enough! They have gained our respect & we can’t stop telling everyone about them!

A relative of mine who has a construction management and consulting company recommended that I contact Tim McLennan when I needed to have a new back door installed in my home in 2014. I did so and was very satisfied with his work. Tim is very helpful with advice. He is easy to reach, easy to talk to, and patient and thorough when answering questions. His paperwork regarding a project is comprehensive and very neat and professional looking.
Tim has now done several jobs for me: a new door in the garage, a new storm door, power cleaning the house, installing locks and installing shutters. Prior to installing new shutters, Tim found flaws in the new vinyl siding that had been installed on my house several months before by another company. On his own and without any suggestions from me, Tim volunteered to send a letter to the company that had installed the siding. In his letter Tim described the flaws in the siding job and included many photos that he himself had taken as proof of what he had found.
The company immediately contacted me and sent a technician to examine the problems. That person concurred with Tim’s evaluation and told me that all of the siding would be removed and replaced with new vinyl siding with no additional cost to me.
Tim is a first class, excellent, top-notch, A1 contractor.
