Job Description
Position Summary
The Carpenter’s Assistant is responsible for supporting the execution of rough and finish carpentry work under the direction of the Lead Carpenter and Production Manager.
Above all, the Carpenter’s Assistant must have a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and the ability to interact pleasantly and professionally with coworkers, trade partners, and clients. Work Hours & Location
This is a flexible position averaging approximately 25–30+ hours per week.
Work is to be performed both at our office/warehouse, located at 780 Eden Rd., Lancaster, PA, and on location at job sites (typically within 30 minutes of our Lancaster office).

Key Responsibilities
Carpentry & Jobsite Support
- Assist with rough and finish carpentry tasks under the direction of the Lead Carpenter and Production Manager.
- Execute assigned activities with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Perform work according to McLennan’s quality standards and the plans and specifications provided.
- Assist with transporting materials as needed.
- Safely handle and operate power tools appropriate to assigned tasks.
- Assist with simple general repairs when needed.
Organization, Protection & Safety
- Organize materials and equipment in the warehouse, company vehicles, and jobsites.
- Follow procedures to ensure jobsite safety, protection, and maintenance of company tools.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly jobsite.
- Help set up clean house protection, including the use of negative air when appropriate.
- Support a safe work environment for coworkers, trade partners, clients, and visitors.
Team Collaboration & Customer Service
- Work cooperatively with Lead Carpenters, Production Managers, and other team members.
- Communicate clearly and professionally in person, by phone, through text, email, and company software.
- Present a clean, professional appearance on jobsites and when interacting with clients.
- Participate in a culture of learning, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Requirements

Technical Skills

Basic understanding of communication technology, including email and text

Clear and professional communication skills

Ability to safely handle power tools

Understanding of basic jobsite safety and maintaining a safe work environment

Education & Experience

18 years or older

Valid driver’s license

Able to work legally in the United States

Able to provide own transportation

Able to provide basic hand tools

Able to provide a personal smartphone, primarily used for electronic time clock purposes

Not Required (But Nice to Have)

Experience with rough carpentry

Experience with finish carpentry and trim installation

Drywall hanging and finishing experience

Siding and aluminum capping experience

Experience working in occupied homes during remodeling projects

Familiarity with dust containment and jobsite protection procedures
