Light, Bright & Beautiful: A Modern First Floor Remodel
This first-floor remodel transformed a closed-off, outdated layout into a bright, open space designed for cooking, entertaining, and everyday living. With improved flow, expanded prep space, and thoughtful features like a large island and dedicated beverage area, the result is a cohesive, modern space tailored to Jackie and Nathan's lifestyle.
Project Goals
-
Open up the first-floor layout to create better flow between kitchen, dining, and living spaces
-
Add prep space, seating, and smart storage to support cooking and entertaining
-
Introduce a modern, cohesive design with clean, updated finishes
The Challenge
The original layout felt closed off and disconnected, making the kitchen difficult to use for both everyday tasks and entertaining. Limited prep space, lack of storage, and minimal seating created frustration, while outdated finishes made the space feel dark and uninviting. The home needed a more open, functional design that better reflected the homeowners’ lifestyle.
The Solution
By removing walls and reworking the layout, the first floor was transformed into an open, connected space designed for modern living. A large central island added prep space and seating, while updated cabinetry, lighting, and finishes created a bright, cohesive look. Thoughtful additions, like a beverage fridge, smart lighting, and custom details, enhance both function and everyday comfort, resulting in a space that feels intentional, efficient, and easy to live in.
