Project Overview

After living in their home for eight years, these homeowners had gradually updated many areas of the house, but the kitchen and nearby powder room still felt outdated and didn’t reflect their style. The existing space struggled with poorly painted cabinets from a previous renovation, cracking tile flooring, and limited storage. As their family continued to grow, the kitchen no longer supported their daily routines, and they began looking for a solution that would improve both function and overall flow.

Through our design process, we reimagined the layout by adjusting the size of an existing window and reorienting the nearby powder room to create additional depth in the kitchen. This change allowed the space to expand and made room for a large island with seating—one of the homeowners’ biggest goals. The finished kitchen features warm wood cabinetry paired with crisp white perimeter cabinets, expanded storage, a dedicated coffee bar area, and a bright transitional style that feels both welcoming and timeless.

Scope of Work

This project focused on reworking both the kitchen and adjacent powder room to create a more functional and spacious layout.

The existing kitchen was fully removed, including cabinetry, countertops, flooring, and fixtures. During the redesign process, the nearby powder bathroom was reoriented and a window was resized to allow cabinetry to extend further along the wall, which expanded the usable footprint of the kitchen and created enough depth for a large island with seating.

The new kitchen was built with custom cabinetry, including white perimeter cabinets and a warm wood island that serves as the centerpiece of the space. Quartz countertops, updated lighting, and a neutral backsplash were installed to brighten the room and complement the transitional design style.

The project also included the addition of a dedicated coffee bar and beverage area, new flooring, and updated appliances, creating a kitchen that now offers improved storage, better flow, and a welcoming space for everyday family life and entertaining.

During Project Development, the design phase moved efficiently as the homeowners quickly connected with the proposed layout changes. Once they saw how reorienting the nearby powder bathroom and adjusting the window size would open up the kitchen and allow space for an island, they felt confident moving forward with the concept. With the overall layout established early, the remaining time in the design phase focused on refining the details, selecting cabinetry finishes, and creating a cohesive transitional style that balanced warm wood tones with bright white cabinetry.

The pre-production phase included finalizing selections, ordering cabinetry and materials, coordinating product lead times, and scheduling our trade partners. Once construction began, the remodel was completed in just eight weeks—right on track with our typical 6 to 10 week range for kitchen projects. With thoughtful planning during project development, the remodel moved forward smoothly, resulting in a kitchen that now offers improved storage, better flow, and a welcoming space for gathering.
