From Fragmented to Flowing: A Cohesive Kitchen Remodel
When Mary and Deric approached us, they were in dire need of ideas to maximize their kitchen space and improve the overall flow of their first floor. They had been gradually updating other parts of their home, but when their dishwasher broke down, they knew it was time to address the kitchen.
Project Goals
-
Create a more open, connected first-floor layout for better flow and interaction
-
Brighten the space with improved lighting and updated finishes
-
Enhance functionality with modern appliances and thoughtful design details
The Challenge
The original layout felt fragmented, with walls separating the kitchen, dining area, and living spaces. This created a closed-off, darker environment that limited flow and made the entry feel cramped. Outdated finishes and a lack of cohesion further contributed to a space that didn’t feel inviting or functional for everyday living.
The Solution
By removing key walls and reconfiguring the layout, the first floor was transformed into a seamless, open-concept space. Updated cabinetry, quartz countertops, and a cohesive backsplash elevated the design, while improved lighting and new flooring brought warmth and continuity throughout. The result is a bright, welcoming environment that supports both daily life and entertaining with ease.
