Project Overview

This kitchen remodel focused on improving how the space functioned for everyday life while giving the room a lighter, more updated feel. The homeowners enjoyed spending time together in the kitchen, but the existing island was too small for their family and made gatherings feel crowded and uncomfortable.

Because the homeowners plan to sell their home in the future, they wanted to invest in thoughtful updates that would make the kitchen more enjoyable now while also improving its appeal for future buyers. By enlarging the island, refreshing the finishes, and introducing a dedicated coffee bar area, the kitchen now feels brighter, more functional, and far better suited for both daily routines and entertaining.

Scope of Work

This project focused on refreshing the kitchen while improving the layout and functionality of the central island. The existing island was expanded by incorporating an additional cabinet base and installing new countertops, creating a larger surface that provides both additional prep space and comfortable seating for family meals.

Throughout the kitchen, finishes were updated to brighten the overall look of the space. New countertops and backsplash materials helped modernize the room, while updated appliances contributed to both improved performance and a cleaner aesthetic. A previously temporary rolling cart area was transformed into a built-in coffee bar, creating a more intentional feature that blends seamlessly with the rest of the kitchen cabinetry and adds convenience to the homeowners’ daily routine.

During Project Development, a significant amount of time was spent carefully planning the size and placement of the new island. Because the island plays such an important role in how the kitchen functions, multiple conversations focused on balancing the homeowners’ desire for more seating and workspace with maintaining comfortable walkways and clearances throughout the room.

After reviewing different layout possibilities and refining the dimensions, the team arrived at a solution that expanded the island without making the space feel crowded. Once those key decisions were finalized, the rest of the design process moved smoothly, allowing the project to transition confidently into construction and deliver a kitchen that feels brighter, more spacious, and much better suited to the family’s needs.
