Project Overview
This kitchen was no longer meeting the needs of a growing family of six. With limited storage, poor lighting, dated finishes, and no dishwasher, the space had become more of a daily frustration than a functional hub. Cooking three meals a day without proper amenities made the kitchen feel cramped, inefficient, and disconnected from the rest of the home.
The homeowners were ready for a change — a space that felt natural, with craftsman character and thoughtful design. One of their must-haves? A dishwasher. Another? Making use of every inch of potential storage, especially above the fridge.

Scope of Work
To address the family's need for more storage and functionality, we installed full-height cabinetry, eliminating the wasted space above the refrigerator and creating a more streamlined look.
A dishwasher was added to support their daily cooking routine, and thoughtful cabinet design provided better organization throughout.
After exploring layout options, we expanded the kitchen into the opposite direction and repurposed the adjacent playroom into a dedicated dining room. This allowed for a more open, connected layout and maximized usable space. We widened the opening between the kitchen and dining room to improve flow and painted the dining room a rich navy blue to add depth and contrast.
Slate flooring—an intentional, standout choice—was carried throughout the kitchen, dining room, and surrounding first-floor spaces to create a cohesive look.
We also refreshed the walls and trim with updated paint throughout the main floor, giving the entire area a clean, polished finish.

This project followed a thoughtful and efficient timeline. The homeowners spent about two months in Project Development, finalizing the design and making selections to ensure the remodel aligned with their goals. The pre-production phase, including the ordering of materials, determining product lead times, and scheduling with trade partners, spanned just over a month. Once construction began, the remodel was completed in just seven weeks—on the shorter end of our typical 6 to 10 week range for kitchen projects. Thanks to thorough planning and clear decision-making, production went smoothly despite the scope of work.
